Chemical Engineer

Chemical Engineer (Hazardous Materials & Process Safety)

Location: Northern Germany (Between Hannover and Bremen)

We are partnering with an exceptionally well-funded, stealth-mode aerospace company that is developing advanced propulsion technologies for next-generation aerospace and defence applications. Backed by significant investment and led by an ambitious founding team, the business is now entering an exciting phase of growth as it transitions from advanced R&D into industrial-scale manufacturing.

To support this journey, we are looking for talented Chemical Engineers who want to apply their knowledge in one of the most technically challenging and rewarding engineering environments in Europe.

This is an opportunity to work with energetic materials, hazardous chemical processes and advanced manufacturing systems, helping to build safe, scalable production facilities from the ground up. Whether you are a recent graduate or have a small amount of industrial experience, you will be surrounded by experienced engineers working on genuinely cutting-edge technology with real-world impact.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional process engineering role.

You’ll become part of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for developing the processes, procedures and infrastructure required to manufacture advanced aerospace products safely and efficiently. Every day will present new technical challenges as the company scales its operations from prototype development into full production.

Working alongside experienced chemical, mechanical and systems engineers, you will contribute to the safe handling of hazardous materials, the development of manufacturing processes, process safety documentation and operational procedures for a highly regulated production environment.

As the company grows, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of increasingly complex projects and rapidly develop your career.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the safe handling, storage and processing of hazardous chemicals and energetic materials.
  • Assist in developing safe manufacturing processes for advanced aerospace technologies.
  • Carry out process risk assessments including HAZOPs, FMEAs and other safety studies.
  • Develop operating procedures, work instructions and process documentation.
  • Support hazardous materials management and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to facility design with a focus on chemical process safety.
  • Help implement fire protection, explosion protection and industrial safety systems.
  • Work closely with production, engineering and external specialists to ensure safe operations.
  • Support investigations into process deviations and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Help build the chemical engineering and process safety capability of a rapidly growing manufacturing organisation.

What We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in ambitious engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems and want to work in an environment where they can make a real impact from the very beginning.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A degree (BSc or MSc) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
  • An interest in hazardous chemical processes, explosives, energetic materials, combustion or industrial process safety.
  • Knowledge of process engineering principles and chemical manufacturing operations.
  • Exposure to topics such as HAZOP, risk assessment, fire protection, explosion protection or hazardous materials management through university projects or industry experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to learn quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Fluency in English; German would be advantageous but is not essential.

Applications are welcomed from high-performing graduates, engineers with internships or placements, and professionals with up to around five years’ experience who are looking to accelerate their careers in a unique engineering environment.

Why Join?

Few opportunities offer the chance to help build an advanced manufacturing business from the ground up while working on technologies at the forefront of European aerospace and defence.

You’ll join a company where your work will have visible impact from day one, where responsibility comes early, and where your career can develop significantly faster than within a large corporate environment.

If you’re looking for a role that combines chemical engineering, hazardous materials, advanced manufacturing and cutting-edge technology, this represents an exceptional opportunity to build your career alongside some of the industry’s brightest engineers.
